Independent education, clearly separated from employment
Healthy Ageing Education is an independently developed educational platform. Unless a page explicitly states otherwise, views, interpretations, reflections and opinions published here are those of Sílvia Tavares / Healthy Ageing Education and are expressed in a personal and independent professional capacity.
Independence from employers and organisations
Healthy Ageing Education is not an official publication, communication or educational service of Sílvia Tavares's current or former employers, placement organisations, universities, healthcare organisations, professional bodies or other organisations with which she may be affiliated.
References to professional roles, clinical settings, education or experience are provided for context. They do not mean that an employer, NHS organisation, university or other affiliated organisation has reviewed, approved, endorsed or adopted the views expressed on this platform.
Where an organisation's official position, policy or guidance is relevant, HAE aims to identify and link to the appropriate source rather than present an individual interpretation as that organisation's position.
Educational information — not individual clinical advice
Content on Healthy Ageing Education is provided for education, professional learning, reflection and general information. It is not a substitute for individual medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing advice or other personalised healthcare advice.
Clinical decisions should take account of the individual person, current evidence and guidance, professional scope and competence, local policies and pathways, and appropriate multidisciplinary or specialist input.
Members of the public should seek advice from an appropriate healthcare professional about concerns relating to their own health or care. Urgent or emergency concerns should be directed to the appropriate local urgent or emergency service.
Evidence and professional judgement
HAE aims to distinguish research evidence, published guidance, clinical reflection and professional interpretation. Sources are cited or linked where appropriate, but healthcare evidence and guidance change over time. Publication on HAE should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a resource remains the most current source for every clinical context.
Professional or clinical content is intended to support — not replace — critical appraisal, professional judgement, current authoritative guidance and local governance requirements.
Confidentiality and clinical examples
Patient, service-user and colleague confidentiality is fundamental. HAE does not intentionally publish identifiable confidential information.
Where clinical situations, cases or reflections are used for education, details may be anonymised, generalised, combined or altered where appropriate to protect confidentiality while retaining the educational point. A case presented for learning should not be assumed to represent a complete clinical record.
Professional responsibilities
The platform is developed by a registered nurse and its professional content is intended to be consistent with relevant professional standards, including responsible digital communication, confidentiality, evidence-informed practice, professional boundaries and transparency about conflicts of interest.
A statement that views are personal does not remove professional responsibilities. HAE therefore treats independence and professional accountability as complementary rather than interchangeable.
Commercial relationships and conflicts of interest
HAE's educational conclusions are intended to remain independent. Relevant financial, affiliate, sponsorship or other material relationships connected to particular content will be disclosed where applicable.
Paid relationships do not purchase favourable clinical or educational conclusions. Sponsored, affiliate or commercially supported material should be identifiable as such.
External links and third-party material
Links to external organisations, publications, products or services are provided for information or further reading where relevant. A link does not necessarily constitute endorsement of every view, claim, product or service offered by that third party.
Third-party content remains the responsibility of its publisher or provider.
Copyright and use of content
Unless otherwise stated, original Healthy Ageing Education text, educational frameworks and original resources are the intellectual work of Healthy Ageing Education / Sílvia Tavares. Third-party research, guidance, images and other material remain subject to their respective rights and licences.
Content should not be reproduced or represented as another person's original work without appropriate permission or attribution.
Corrections and transparency
HAE aims to correct material factual or referencing errors when identified. Educational interpretation may also evolve as evidence, guidance and the platform develop.
