Healthy Ageing Education is an independent initiative founded by Sílvia Tavares, a healthcare professional with over 20 years of clinical experience across Portugal and the UK.
With a background in nursing and extensive work in acute, medical, surgical, oncology, and frailty care, Sílvia currently serves as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in the NHS, specialising in frailty management. Her international perspective allows her to connect best practices from both healthcare systems.
Sílvia holds an MSc in Management and Project Management, where she graduated with Distinction for her systematic review on frailty management across Europe. She also holds Postgraduate Diplomas in Programme Management, Community Nursing, and Public Health.
Driven by a lifelong passion for older adults and preventative health, she founded Healthy Ageing Education to make evidence-based knowledge accessible, practical, and human.
Her mission is to raise awareness, share knowledge, and build a multidisciplinary network—connecting clinicians, students, educators, researchers, nutrition and exercise specialists, pharmacists, and the public to work together toward a holistic, proactive approach to ageing well.

Healthy Ageing Education was created from a simple idea — ageing well is possible when knowledge is shared.
After decades in healthcare, I saw how many cases of frailty could be prevented with earlier awareness and clearer education. During my postgraduate studies, I realised that both professionals and the public needed practical, trustworthy information — not more complexity.
This initiative brings together clinical experience, research, and teaching to close that gap. Here you’ll find short explainers, practical tools, and learning materials that connect science with real-world care.
